DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nENGLISH VERSION:\n\n\n\nThe one-day conference “Back to Africa: Literary Representation of Return in African Literatures” aims to shed light on the multifaceted representations of return in African literatures.\n\n\n\nThe conference acknowledges the tension between the desire to return and the challenges of displacement and delves into various aspects of the phenomenon, including its role in shaping identities, the challenges of reintegration, and the impact of migration on individuals. The conference also examines the diverse forms and historical periods in which the idea of return is explored in African literatures, from early to contemporary works.\n\n\n\nOrganised by the French University Sorbonne Paris Nord, in collaboration with the Italian Universities of Bologna and Modena and Reggio Emilia, it hosts panellists from diverse backgrounds and regions, bringing a rich tapestry of experiences and insights to the table. Furthermore, the conference proudly presents Professor Madhu Krishnan, a renowned expert in African literature, as its distinguished keynote speaker.\n\n\n\nFRENCH VERSION:\n\n\n\nLa journée d’étude entitulé Back to Africa: Literary Representation of Return in African Literatures” vise à mettre en lumière les multiples facettes de la représentation du retour dans les littératures africaines.\n\n\n\nLa journée d’étude analyse la tension entre le désir de retour et les défis du déplacement, et explore divers aspects du phénomène migratoire, y compris son rôle dans la formation des identités, les défis de la réintégration et l’impact de la migration sur les individus. La conférence examine également les différentes formes et périodes historiques dans lesquelles l’idée du retour est explorée dans les littératures africaines, des œuvres du passé aux œuvres contemporaines. Organisée par l’Université française Sorbonne Paris Nord, en collaboration avec les universités italiennes de Bologne et de Modène et Reggio Emilia, elle accueille des intervenants de divers horizons et régions, apportant une riche diversité d’expériences et d’analyses à la table.
